The 2011 Minnesota Fire Exploring Conference came to a close on Saturday, May 14th. This year's event was co-sponsored by AmeriGas, Hennepin Technical College, FIRE Inc., Veolia Environmental Systems, Home Depot, and Nardini Fire Protection and was held at the Columbia Heights Fire Department.
Final attendance numbers for the conference was 32 Advisors and 83 Explorers from 11 posts from around the state. We also had over 30 volunteers who dedicated their day to the explorers. In addition, there were many observers who came to the one-day event.
Explorers spent half their day in competitions which included eight team fire and EMS events and five individual events.
During the second half of their day, Explorers also had an opportunity to practice their firefighting skills on simulated fires using propane driven training props donated for the day by Hennepin Technical College and FIRE Inc. Having this many fire simulation props in one area for an event like this is a rarity, one in which most fire departments themselves would not see in a single day. For obvious reasons this was by far a popular part of the event.

News media attended and a video report of the event can be found here at WCCO.com.
Conference results can be found here.
It was an awesome event that would not have gone off so seamless without the help and assistance of the volunteers. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
